Cleaning and Beauty Products

OK, so this is actually a rather large topic, and I could go on for DAYS about how most of the products we use to clean our homes and ourselves are actually HORRIBLE for us! Not to mention all the plastic bits and bottles these products use. Sure some of the bottles can be recycled, but what about caps and other small bits??

Most of the ingredients in these products are toxic, and the only purpose they serve is to make us want to use them: smell, color, texture. There are a slew of natural products that are non-toxic, etc.. but they still come in plastic containers. SO... what to do?!

All you need is the basics: baking soda, white vinegar, and lemon for cleaner and some tea tree oil for your skin.

Here are some AWESOME sites that I've referenced that have been extremely enlightening:

Gorgeously Green amazing site, message board and blog that has EVERYTHING a lady (and man!) needs to know about using and creating non-toxic products. I've made my own things that has left my skin baby smooth.

TerraCycle This site is great because it's all about UPCYCLING (reusing trash to make new things!) I'm not particularly excited about the products they use in upcycling (promotes eating junk food) but it's a start, and is an inspiration to me. They also reuse 2-liter bottles for non-toxic cleaners.

More to come later about toxins in products :)
