My best friend recently sent me an exciting text saying this: "I had an impulse to buy one of those fancy foot baths, but then realized um it's a lot of plastic do I need it!? No... And a bucket I have will do just fine to soak my feet."
I was so happy that she actually took the time to "Stop, think, deplasticize!"
This mentality can be used with everything we do! Not only buying, but also how we make other decisions in life.
There are always alternatives and other points of views. We as humans have the cognitive reasoning and capacity to recognize and be aware of this. Instead of always combating each other and looking for ways to disagree, how can we work together to come up with a solution where everyone will benefit and eventually be happy?
The reason for this brief moral rant is because a lot of times people are weary of doing away with products, etc. in the fear that this will eliminate jobs. Perhaps it will, but what other jobs can we create? Perhaps a plastic bottle manufacturing plant is about to go out of business because people have begun to boycott plastic bottles. Instead of this just happening, wouldn't it be great if the community could work together to find the funds and resources to help upgrade the factory to one that produces eco friendly products? This may seem like a thought from happy rainbow pony land, but it's these types of positive twists that will eventually begin to fill the heads of investors and politicians the like...
